Jack McCarthy is a Managing Partner and Founder of Alvarez & Marsal Capital. Mr. McCarthy has over 30 years of experience in making private equity investments and working with management teams to achieve operational and financial goals. From 2005-2010, Mr. McCarthy was a Managing Director, Founder and Co-National Practice Leader of Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Advisory Group, which serves both private equity sponsors and select strategic investors. From September 2008 to February 2010, Mr. McCarthy served on assignment as Head of Private Equity & Principal Investments for Lehman Brothers Holdings with overall responsibility for the estate’s private equity partnerships, direct equity investments and stakes in third-party private equity / hedge funds, in total amounting in excess of $15 billion in invested capital.
From 1996-2005, Mr. McCarthy was a Partner of BA Capital Partners Europe, Bank of America’s European focused middle-market private equity partnership which invested more than $1 billion in over 35 investments across three funds. Prior to joining Bank of America’s Private Equity group, Mr. McCarthy was with Bank America Securities (1993-1995) and Continental Bank NA (1991-1993), where he focused on corporate finance advisory and equity/debt capital raising mandates.
Mr. McCarthy holds an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BSBA with concentrations in finance and accounting from Central Michigan University. He currently serves on the boards of BrightPet Nutrition Group, GS Foods, PetWise, Inc., The Arcticom Group, the Institute for the Study of War in Washington DC, VTG, and a board observer of ProAmpac. Mr. McCarthy is a member of the Polsky Center Private Equity Council at The University of Chicago and is on the advisory board of The Journal of Private Equity.
